Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technical GPS Tracking Installation & Maintenance Engineer to join our technical operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting GPS tracking hardware, telematics systems, and dashcam units across a wide variety of commercial fleets, generators and personal vehicles. You will serve as the primary technical contact on-site, ensuring optimal hardware performance and integration with our software platform.
Key Responsibilities
• Installation: Perform professional auto-electrical installations of GPS tracking devices, telematics units, fuel sensors, immobilization relays, and dashcams across light, heavy, and specialized vehicles/equipment.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose, repair, and replace faulty telematics hardware, wiring harness issues, or sensor misconfigurations in the field and at client facilities.
• System Integration & Testing: Verify proper communication between installed hardware and the fleet management platform; conduct end-to-end diagnostic checks before handover.
• Quality & Safety: Adhere strictly to automotive wiring standards, vehicle safety protocols, and company installation guidelines to prevent damage to vehicle electronics.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain complete installation logs, field reports, inventory tracking, and client sign-off documentation for every job assignment.
• Client Technical Support: Provide brief operational briefings to fleet managers or vehicle owners post-installation and resolve escalation tickets efficiently.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Electronics Engineering, or a directly related engineering field.
• Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of vehicle electrical architecture (12V/24V systems, CAN-bus, relays, ignition sensing, and automotive schematics).
• Skills: Hands-on experience with auto-wiring, soldering, multimeter diagnostics, and basic networking/telemetry protocols.
• Problem Solving: Strong field troubleshooting skills for identifying wiring faults, signal interference, or power draw issues.
• License & Passport: Valid driver’s or Motorcycle license with a clean driving record (field travel required).
GROSS MONTHLY PAY:
• UGX 700,000 PER MONTH.
